Built in 1926 by architect Kosta Nikolov, the church stands in the place of an old bell-tower and represents an extension to the St. Panteleimon Church. Today, St. Nikolai is part of the complex of St. Panteleimon Church (around the Square of Tolerance ), the outstanding residential building of the Metropolitan of Vidin (built in 1924), the mausoleum of Antim I, and the eparchial school. It is a three-nave, cross-vault church with an apse. All walls are painted.
