Calypso is a new name for the European Commission’s initiative launched in 2009 aimed at creating innovative and accessible tourism products for the widest range of tourists allowing Tourism for All!

Although entertainment and travel are not regarded as basic needs, they undoubtedly are a right of each and every individual, and for that reason Calypso Programme wishes to encourage tourism industry representatives to develop offers that would allow tourism for all, and consequently, increase a number of tourists at destinations, not only in high season, but during the low season too.

Pan-European cooperation between representatives of the tourism sector within the framework of public, private and civil initiatives, supplemented by a compatible tourism offer, embodies principles built into the modern approach to tourism. Thanks to new ideas, forms of public-private partnerships and innovation, travelling has become accessible to an increasingly wider range of travellers. As a result, the contribution of tourism to economic development and the overall development is continuously on the rise.

Gordana Plamenac - Managing Director, National Tourism Organisation of Serbia

The basic premise behind the Holiday4ALL Project is the message of the United Nationals that travel is no longer a luxury but more so a basic human need. New modes of operation accompany new trends in the tourism sector. Initiatives and destinations that derive advantages from regional and innovative themed linking create positive resonance among tourists. These initiatives produce an exceptionally positive feedback from tourists and consequently considerably contribute to the economic progress during the low tourist season too.
