The only remaining Turkish age mosque not only in Pécs, but in the whole of Hungary, was built in second half of 16th century by pasha Yakovali Hassan. In the years 1702 – 1732 the local Bishop wanted a reconstruction of the mosque into a chapel of St John of Nepomuk. In 1956 all was restored, and in 1971 even the nearby dervish monastery was reconstructed, finishing all in 1975. The Pécs Muslim community uses the mosque regularly.
