In the surroundings of Danube from Moča to Komárno
The trail unveils the beauty of a unique landscape - floodplain forests, which in many aspects create an extraordinary habitat hosting different species of fauna and flora. The trail is not signed. It is selfguided trail. The most interesting natural spots are the Danube and the floodplain forests. The best time to visit is from April to October. The trail is an ideal choice for lovers of nature.
The most interesting cultural site on the trail is in the municipality of Iža - where hikers can find the footsteps of the Romans: there is a Roman castellum Celemantia - Leányvár, which was a part of the Roman Limes, the frontier-zone of the Empire (the construction of the castellum started in the 2nd half of the 1st century). The trail also offer a relax in thermal water in Patince.
Along this trail there are some hiker friendly accomodations (cottages, pensions and hotels) and restaurants. High quality accommodation, catering and relax services are available in Wellness Hotel Patince (www.wellnesspatince.sk). The trail is easily walkable, the best for target groups: families / 50+. Moča is easily accessible by bus, Komárno is easily accessible by train and bus . Hikers can also try cycling, boating and swimming with wellness (in the municipality Patince). Prices are friendly, food is delicious. In the region, we can find several little shops, specialized for selling scones (the scone is a traditional food in south Slovakia).
