This National park stretches around 100 km along the Iron Gates of the Danube. It covers 63,680 ha (638 km²) with mountains, passes, and spectacular gorges, a natural habitat for many endemic species and a protected area for flora and fauna. The park also covers the Lepinski Vir Archaeological Area and museum (see Drobeta Turnu Severin, museums, or Danube.travel, museums), Tabula Traiana (see Drobeta Turnu Severin, Places to see in and around Drobeta) and a spectacular military heritage such as the ancient Roman Fortress Diana or medieval Fortress of Golubac (read more at Drobeta Turnu Severin, fortresses, or Danube.travel, fortresses). The park offers all year round fishing, hunting, natural and cultural heritage tourism, guided tours and accommodation facilities in and around the park. Special events are also organised in the park. Best contact to book tours is the park visitor centre.
