Serbia

The Republic of Serbia is a landlocked country situated in the South-east of Europe, with state borders to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania.

It is organized into 5 district regions. Kosovo and Metohia, as one of them, is still disputed: once autonomous region, it declared its independence in 2008, but is still not recognized as an official state entity.

More than 7 million people live in Serbia, with the highest density of population in the capital, the city of Belgrade.

Its upper-middle income economy is mostly dominated by services, manufacturing and agriculture, heavily reliant on exports and foreign investments. Serbia grows one third of the world raspberries and is leading exporter of frozen fruit.

Serbian territory covers an area of more than 88 square kilometres, highly geographically diversiful. The Pannonian Plain, river lowlands, the Balkan and Carpathian Mountains, dominate the landscape. One third of the territory is covered by forests.
