The church was built in 1939 and was not yet hollowed when, during the communist regime, has met with a vulgar fate, being transformed in tourist camp. Today is an exemplar monastery, having visitors and, due to its natural ambiance, the monastery being situated on the western hill of Orsova, with an enchanting panorama towards Orsova and the Danube gulf.
