Placed in the direct outskirts of the eastern outworks of the Kalemegdan Fortress (please refer to the section Belgrade, fortresses, or Danube.travel, fortresses), the building of Ružica Church was originally used to store ammunition and gun powder. Now it is a military church. The nearby St. Petka chapel is dedicated to Sveta Petka (Saint Petka; the Holy Mother Parasceva) and was built in 1938, over a spring with healing water.
