Gellért Hill Cave, 25 m above Danube and opposite Gellert Bath, was once inhabited by poor families and only became a religious place with chapel in 1926. After 1989, the chapel was re-opened. In 1992 the Pauline Order, who had been moved out in 1951, came back to maintain also the strange rock monastery. A statue of St Stephen is guarding the entrance of the cave. There are religious services, attended by many tourists.
