About Germany

The Brigach and Breg start the Danube on its way – close to the Baden-Württemberg town of Donaueschingen, the magnificent Danube is formed from the confluence of these two rivers before continuing its journey east. It flows for an impressive 647 kilometres through the German countryside, past Tuttlingen, Sigmaringen, Ulm, Neuburg, Ingolstadt, Kelheim, Regensburg, Straubing, Deggendorf and Passau. Between Donaueschingen and Passau, the Danube offers a wealth of idyllic countryside and culture. Amongst the most inviting regions are the Black Forest, Swabian Alb and Bavarian Forest, and the towns on the Danube include Ulm, Regensburg and Passau.

Germany, however, offers magnificent scenery not only directly along the Danube but also in the wider regions up to 70 kilometres to the left and right of the river, including highlights such as Munich on the river Isar or Nuremberg on the Main-Danube Canal.
