Natural and historical jewels in the town of Komárno
The trail offers unique views of one of the most important cities in South Slovakia. The trail is not signed. It is selfguided trail. The most interesting natural spots are the rivers Danube and Váh. The trail offers many tourist attractions: Komárno/Komárom (in Hungary) Fortress System, Courtyard of Europe (where buildings are stylishly designed and represent historical architecture typical for different parts of Europe and which was created in the historical centre of the town in 1999-2000), Officer’s Pavilion, City Hall Building, Danube Museum. Komárno is the hometown of Mór Jókai, the world-famous Hungarian romantic writer and novelist.
The town is wonderful in all seasons. Komárno and its partner town Komárom (in Hungary) host every year the Komárno's Days cultural festival. High quality accommodation, catering and relax services are available in Hotel Peklo (ww.hotelpeklo.sk). The trail is an ideal choice for lovers of nature, culture and history. Along this trail there many hiker friendly accomodations (cottages, pensions, hotels) and restaurants.
The trail is easily walkable, the best for target groups: families / 50+. Komárno is easily accessible by bus and train. Prices are friendly, food is delicious (scones, fisherman’s soup and goulash are traditional food in the region). City of the fortresses welcomes hikers.
