This biggest museum of its kind in Europe is housed in a group of buildings, locally called "Vajdahunyad castle", on Széchenyi Island (Budapest City Park; see also section Budapest, nature in and around city of Budapest). There are 12 permanent and temporary exhibitions on a ground floor site of 5200 m². There are also exhibition spaces of the museum in the Hungarian countryside: the Georgikon Farm Museum in Keszthely, the Farm Museum in Lajosmizse and the Agricultural Landscape Museum in Cece.
