Certainly, monuments of Lenin and Karl Marx can be admired in Memento Park, an outdoor park in the periphery of Budapest, where 42 monuments from socialist period have been collected and are presented to the public. Most impressing of all are the iron boots (replica) of the former Stalin statue, which was moved down during Hungarian Uprising, in October 1956. Only the boots of Stalin remained on the base. In those days, a joke was told among people of Budapest: „Who is waiting for Santa Claus most wishfully? Stalin, as he arranges his boots already in October…“
Take public bus 150 to Memento Park from “Ujbuda Center”, corner of Fehervari Street/Bocskai St. (Shopping Mall), to Campona. The bus ride takes 25 minutes.
There is also a Memento Park Direct Bus transfer from Deak Square, in the centre of Budapest (metro station: Deak Ferenc Square, lines 1, 2, 3).
