Highly recommended and most prominent, this competition festival of national drama and theatre, “Sterijino pozorje”, was established in 1956 to celebrate 150th anniversary of the birth and 100th anniversary of the death of great Serbian author Jovan Sterija Popovic (1806 – 1856). Best performers and performances are awarded the Sterija Award.
