This is the first Serbian grammar school, founded in 1791. A Hungarian architect Gyula Pártos made a project for the present building and it was made in 1891 as an endowment of the Serbian Patriarch German Anđelić and his brother Stevan. The architect managed to present the Serbian medieval architecture by combining red and yellow colour on a facade. Today, Karlovci Grammar School is a philological school in which contemporary and classical languages are studied.
