Szent István Bazilika at Szent István Square (St Stephen Square) is a relatively young neo-Renaissance building, which rises up for nearly a 100 m. People can climb up the stairs to the cupola to enjoy the panoramic viewof the nearby Art Nouveau buildings. People should respect religious services. The enormous building process started in 1851 and only finished in 1905. Look for the restored cupola mosaics, look for the relics of St Stephen, his mummified right hand, look for statue of St Rita, most important help against mortal diseases and dangers, and have a look at the altar of the wife of Holy King Stephen, Gisela, who was Christian and came from Danube city of Passau (Germany) to marry him. Also look for the organ concerts (three times a week), and read more in section Budapest, festivities and events).
