Hikers can admire nature in and around Pécs best on a walking tour to Mecsek forest park. The way is suitable for everybody. Starting at Pauline church (corner of Hunyadi János and Magaslati Street), the steep winding path is flanked by houses on the east side. Through Mecsek Gate, built in 1936, it goes up to Dömörkapu and Misinatető. From Mecsek Gate, follow the path marked by the yellow square. A sign indicates that Hotel Kikelet (see Mohács, Places to stay in and around Mohács) is 600 m away. Enjoy sitting on the benchs and breathe the clean air of Mecsek forest. Also birdwatchers will be happy. The way to Niké figure of Makrisz Agamemnon's Liberty statue is easy. Visit also Hotel Kikelet. Next to the hotel, there is also a way to Pécs Zoo, which houses 1000 animals of 150 species. The walk goes to Dömörkapu tourist centre. From spring to autumn, you can ride the train to a distance of 800 m. There are a tourist hostel and a restaurant. “Flóra's rest" is a round ashlar tower on 404 m high Bertalan Rock. Enjoy the view. The red and yellow path- or Irma's path, leads from Dömörkapu bus station towards the Tettye plateau. From here you can admire the beautiful panorama and then either continue the walk or take the bus back to Pécs city centre.
