Family craft business Jela Stil was founded in Uzice in Western Serbia in 1995. Its main activity is sewing of jute made table cloths and covers by applying traditional Serbian crafts. In 2004 Jela Stil was awarded Certificate from Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade for using traditional Serbian craft skills in making their handicrafts.Jela Stil table cloths are made by using traditional Serbian skills in knitting, tailoring, and design. The jute is starched and tailored, and then a special central pattern is then made by removing some threads. Then the flowers and leaves are attached, to make a traditional Serbian decoration pattern for carpets and table cloths. Most table clothes include a special hand-made cotton hem. Once the hems are sewn, the entire table cloth is pressed and ready for use.
