Close to the village passes an ancient route that leads to the medieval fortress in Cherven. Just a few miles away are the Ivanovo Rock Churches – a UNESCO world heritage site, dating back to the 13th century, with remarkably preserved murals that adorn the cells and chapels of the complex. Other landmarks in the region are the Orlova Chuka Cave, which is the second longest cave in Bulgaria, and the Basarbovo Rock Monastery, established between the 12th and 14th centuries, and still-functioning today.
