Serbians built a new fortified settlement, which was destroyed by Hungarians in 1502. In 1524, Ottomans under Suleiman the Magnificent moved in and built the Ottoman fortress of Fethi Islam, now Fetislam. It can be seen during river cruise from Kladovo to Iron Gates of Danube.
