This spa (Hungarian: Esztergom Szent István Városi Fürdő) re-opened in November 2005. The first spa was built here – in the center of Esztergom – in the 1920s. It has indoor and outdoor pools; the thermal water has a smooth healing power (rheumatism, gynecological treatments). The spa is surrounded by old trees and a nice city park. Esztergom baths date back even to antique roman times. Here, the first public baths of Hungary opened in the 12th century AD, managed by the Knights of St John. Next to it is the local Hotel Fürdo (Bajcsy-Zsilinszky ut 14, 2500 Esztergom, Hungary, Tel. +36 33 111 47), a 19th century building (classic style).
