Most important building on the Southern side of the main Square of Pécs, Széchenyi Square, built in years 1887 – 1891 in eclectic style, but with elements of Baroque. Copies of the original Tiepolo paintings were done on the vault in 1908. The first church was consecrated by Capuchin monks, who came in 1698 and finished the building in 1727, and the monastery in 1731. In 1744, a fire destroyed it all, but everything was rebuilt. In 1786, Capuchins left to give space for the Hospitallers, arriving in 1796, whose hospital could take care of 40 patients in 1883. Most attractive is the Zsolnay fountain in front of the church.
