This museum (Hungarian: Keresztény Múzeum) is in VÃziváros (Watertown) quarter, in the Primate's Palace (permanent exhibition on the second floor), which was constructed by József Lippert (1880 – 1882). It was inaugurated by Archbishop János Simor and has a huge ecclesiastical collection. Including Hungarian panel pictures and medieval sculptures, Italian (Renaissance and Baroque style), Flemish and other Western European art works of the 13th to 18th century. See also the late Gothic style Úrkoporsó (English: Lord's coffin) from Garamszentbenedek, from around 1480. The winged altarpiece by Thomas of Coloswar (1427), the Gothic style altars from Upper Historical Hungary (Felvidék), icons and Orthodox metal works, and decorative arts (handcrafts, tapestries, or ceramics).
There is also a temporary exhibition in the ground floor area.
