The reremains of the Roman fort and the foremost stronghold north of Danube, on today`s Pest site and near Elizabeth Bridge, is partly covered by the Inner City Parish Church, the oldest church in Pest. But there is still much to see in the open air archeological area (no entrance fee). Even more military remains from the Roman period can be found in Budapest, while the city (settlement) of Aquincum is 7 km away from the today`s city center, on Buda site. Aquincum harbor and shipyard was also a wharf for the Imperial Roman fleet on Danube.
