To remember the coal and uranium mining history, Mecsek Mining Museum was installed in a deep cellar with entrance in the yard of Káptalan Street 3. Industrial mining started around Pécs in the Mecsek hills end of 18th century. Danube Steamshipping Company undertook geological surveys in 1852 and bought land, which was the starting point of mining. The museum shows the geological and technological aspect of mining. Visitors follow the 400 m long exhibition space, up to 10 m underground.
