Once, there were hundreds of small so called “stiebl” (small room) synagogues in Budapest. Today, only one active remains. It is run by the Chassidic Sephardic Orthodox community and is situated at Teleki Square (www.telekiter.com). See the Thora shrine (Aron hakodesch), the Thora table (Almemor) or even an old suitcase with worn shoes from the 1940s, most probably a private reminiscence of the Shoa during WWII. Visits are only possible via guided tours through the Jewish Quarter of Beyond Budapest.
