Niederranna – Obermühl Stage

Starting place: Niederranna boat landing stage (in front of Gasthof Draxler, 4085 Hofkirchen i.M., Niederranna 3). We start in Niederranna and tackle the uphill section through the Donauleiten Hills. We keep to the right and follow Danglesbach Brook. Up there we get to Hundsfülling and continue to Marsbach (Marsbach Castle). From there we continue to Dorf, where we again turn towards the Donauleiten Hills. We continue on a forestry trail through the forest down to Haichenbach Castle Ruins, where a resting place invites to enjoy a break. From the tower we enjoy a fantastic view of the Schlögen Loop. There one can see the Danube flow into two directions at the same time. We then follow a path down towards Au (rest stop, ferry). From there we continue on the road along the Danube until we get to the path that leads to “Donauschlinge” Nature Trail. We follow the path until we meet the road again and with it also the cyclists at the Grafenau ferry landing stage. Just before Obermühl we branch off again into the forest. Where Kleine Mühl River enters the Danube we can either take a break at the Donausteig resting place or at Gasthof Gierlinger, before we head across the bridge to get to Obermühl.
