This Serb Orthodox monastery was built in 13th century near the village of Kovilj (population 5,600), on the territory of the municipality of Novi Sad. A legend says, that St. Sava personally founded this monastery, which was renovated between 1705 and 1707. In the village, which was called Kabul in 13th century, there are two more Serbian Orthodox churches from 1824/28, and 1846.
