The outstanding café is the beating heart of five stars luxury Hotel Boscolo New York Palace, built according to the design of Adam D. Tihany at the end of 19th century. It is a must for all lovers of architecture – and Austro-Hungarian lifestyle and cuisine. The ceiling has marvelous frescoes of Gusztav Mannheimer and Ferenc Eisenhut, while Venetian chandeliers are spreading magic light and golden stucco covers the twisted columns. There is also a cigar bar and the Deepwater Restaurant for gourmets, one floor below. It was called this way because since 1914 a lots of “big fishes”, prominent and rich Budapest people, gathered here. Also, the restaurant was once famous as a meeting place for poets, literates, journalists and – spies.
