Transport
Straubing train station, which dates back to 1859, is an interchange between the two-track electrified main line that runs between Regensburg and Passau and the single-track non-electrified line between Straubing and Bogen. Operated by the Gäubodenbahn train company, trains coming from Bogen travel on to Neufahrn on the Neufahrn - Radldorf line. Certain intercity services also stop at Straubing train station in the morning and evening.
Local public transport, which has been operated by the town of Straubing since 1992, serves most of the urban area with four main routes and six special services. Areas not covered are served by a dial-a-ride taxi service (AST). The districts of Kagers, Frauenbrünnl and Sand/Hafen are reachable by taxibus as part of the public transport network.
Straubing is not far from the B20 and the Würzburg - Nuremberg - Regensburg - Straubing - Deggendorf - Passau - Linz autobahn.
The regional Straubing-Wallmühle airfield lies west of Straubing in the district of Atting and is the main airfield for East Bavaria. It has a 1.35km runway and allows instrument approach and take-off. The nearest international airport is in Munich.
Together with the Straubing-Bogen district authority, the town of Straubing operates the Port of Straubing-Sand on the Danube.
