Mengen is on the Danube valley railway line from Ulm to Immendingen. It is a RegionalExpress stop with hourly services to Ulm and Aulendorf, two trains an hour to nearby Sigmaringen and one train every two hours to Tübingen and Donaueschingen. The Kleber Expess on the historical Freiburg - Munich route runs daily.

The local airfield, RegioAirport Mengen, lies about three kilometres east of the town. Its ICAO code is EDTM.
