Half way to the Heuneburg Museum, around five kilometres south of Ertingen, you will pass a Celtic settlement open-air museum. What you see here is presented in more detail at the museum: archaeological finds discovered during 30 years of excavations at the Heuneburg hillfort, plus informative text panels and impressive displays giving an exciting insight into the everyday life, art, culture and the extensive trading network at the time of the Celts.
The Sonnenhof Therme spa and pool complex in nearby Bad Saulgau is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Its thermal baths are fed by up to 1.5 million litres of therapeutic sulphurous water that bubble up every day from a depth of 646 metres. Besides various thermal pools, the Sonnenhof Therme also has a sauna suite, a relaxation and vitality centre, a restaurant, spa gardens and motorhome pitches.

A leisurely ride aboard the Öchsle Museum Train is like taking a step back in time and experiencing Upper Swabia as it was 100 years ago! From around 1 May, there are regular steam train trips between Warthausen and Ochsenhausen on the narrow-gauge railway, which is heritage listed along with its beautifully preserved stations. The carriages, including an open summer carriage, are pulled along by the 57-year-old steam locomotive 'Berta', no. 99 788.

The Mengen to Riedlingen section of the B311 (Ulm-Geisingen) passes right by Ertingen. Until a bypass with a 400m tunnel was built in the 1990s on the western edge of the town, the road went through the centre of Ertingen. After exiting Ertingen to the south, the three-lane road runs parallel to the train line as far as Herbertingen, where it joins the B32 to Bad Saulgau.
