TRANSPORT:

Donaueschingen is not a big city but it is an important regional hub at the intersection of four railway lines. One is the Black Forest railway from Karlsruhe to Constance, another is the Höllentalbahn or 'hell valley railway' from Donaueschingen to Freiburg im Breisgau via Neustadt. The third is the charming Danube valley railway to Ulm and the fourth the Breg valley railway to Bräunlingen. Donaueschingen is also a calling point for intercity trains, including several direct train services to Dortmund and Hamburg.

Donaueschingen is on the A864, which gives access to the A81 Stuttgart – Singen (Hohentwiel). It is also served by the trunk roads B27 (Stuttgart – Schaffhausen), B31 (Freiburg im Breisgau – Lindau) and B33 (Offenburg – Constance).
